Houston, TX. Sun. 23 Aug., 2009. In an effort to continue to ensure the security of air travel, the Transportaion Security Administration (TSA) will be collecting additional information when you travel.
This is a phased in approach as the airlines implement methods to collect this TSA-requested data. The processed started on May 15, 2009 and has milestone dates such as August 15, 2009 and October 31 2009. The TSA’s Web site states not to be alarmed if this information is not requested of you from your traveling airline.
Whenever you purchase an airline ticket you will be asked to provide the information below for the government-issued document which you will use as your identification when you arrive at the airport on your day of travel:
- Name as it appears on the government-issued ID being used
- Gender
- Date of Birth
- Type of Identification
- Redress Number (if applicable)
It will be necessary to provide this information each time you purchase an airline ticket.
